The railway network in Thailand, run by the State Railway of Thailand is the best form of public transport and the cheapest way to cover long distance. Trains takes a bit longer than chartered buses on the same journey but safer and especially on the overnight trains are worth the extra travel time.
The train offer many advantages: there is more room to breathe and stretch out while the scenery is better passing small villages, farmland, old temples.

RAIL ROUTES

The Thai railway system has four main rail lines cover 4,500 kms along the northern, southern, north-eastern routes.

Amongst the most popular destinations are Chiang Mai, Chumphon, Surrathani, Hua Hin, Kanchanaburi, Nong Khai, Ubon Ratchathani and Udonthani.

For travel to more exotic destinations such as Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Phi Phi, Krabi and Phuket,
we offer "Joint Tickets" (trains, bus and ferry) of which the train journey will end at Suratthani.

TERMINALS
Most long-distance trains originate from Bangkok's Hualampong train station.
Bangkok Noi station services commuter and short line trains to Kanchanaburi/Nam Tok, Suphanburi and Nakhon Pathom. Also the slow night train to Chomphon and Langsuan leave from this station.
