Rayong province is situated in the
east of Thailand, along the Gulf of Thailand. The province is bordered with the province
of Chonburi, Chachoengsao and Chantaburi.
Rayong is known for its quality beaches and fine islands, but is probably famous for its nam
plaa (fish sauce). The province also produces fine fruits such as durians and
pineapple.

King
Taksin Shrine
The shrine is located at Wat Lum Mahachai Chumphon. It is
to commemorate the illustrious leader, who rallied for soldiers in the region after the
Burmese had taken control of Ayutthaya.
Wat Pa Pradu
Located within the temple is a 12m long Reclining Buddha, dating
from the Ayutthaya period. The image is different from the traditional Reclining images,
in that it leans on the left side rather than the right.
Koh Samet
This 6 km long island was formerly known as Koh Keo
Pisadan. Until the early 80's it was home to a small community of fishermen, with view
visitors. Nowadays it is a very popular resort for young Thais and foreign holiday makers,
especially at weekends and public holidays.
